Chia Seeds



Chia seeds are edible seeds.
Chia seeds are derived from Salvia hispanica plant. 
Chia means strength.
Chia seeds have unique ability to soak liquid & take gelatinous consistency. 
Chia seeds have good nutrients. 
They contain :-
1) omega 3 fatty acids
2) anti oxidants
   (Antioxidants are compounds that          provides protection from Oxidative stress &  reduce the risk of chronic disease.) 
3) 11.2 g of fibers 
4) Iron
5) calcium
6) 1 ounce (28 g) of serving chia seeds contains 5.6 g of proteins. 
7) 15.07 g of Carbohydrates. 
8) 8.4 g of fats
9) 27℅ of phosphorus
10) 30℅ of manganese
11) small amt of potassium & copper.
12) They don't contain sugar.
 
Chia seeds useful to our skin
Chia seed oil is used as a lubricant. 
Chia seed oil if directly applied can given a healthy glow to our skin. 
Chia seeds control production of leukotrine B4 a molecule which causes acne. 

Chia seeds are excellent source of Anti- Inflammatory ALA, Alpha Linolenic Acid. So they are helpful in curing liver disease. 
Omega 3 fatty acids helps raise HDL cholesterol a good cholesterol. 
So people used the seeds for
1)  reducing risk of heart disease & stroke cardio vascular disease. 
2) control of diabetes & high BP
They decrease bad LDL cholesterol & reduce blood triglycerides & alleviate inflammation. 
They are also used in weight loss as they
a) control hunger. 
b) Enhance your diet. 
c) tiny black & white seeds(red also) as a energy booster. 

They also help in relaxing. 
The body uses  amino acids(tryptophane) to produce serotonin & melatonin both are hormones that are essential for sleep. Small  amt of chia seeds has over 700mgs of tryptophane. 
One can take chia seeds with water in morning or at night for better effects. 
 
1glass of luke  warm water + 1 tea spoon of chia seeds soak for 1/2 hr and then drink it. For taste you can add  lime juice with honey.

Precautions:-: Chia seeds can have side effects if taken in large quantity.
